  • Iyengar/Hatha Yoga Classes and Mindfulness Meditation with Suzy Pool

"We are a small friendly group of women and men of mixed ability who come to Suzy’s class to have a good work out that is fun and makes us feel stronger, fitter, and more flexible. We also learn how to relax and let go of everyday life stresses. It is time put aside each week for ourselves and Suzy greatly encourages us to feel that way. We feel refreshed and energised after each session."

Suzy has been teaching yoga for 14 years and can help you with improving your posture and body alignment. She has particular skills in helping you overcome problems with neck, back and knees through appropriate yoga postures. You will get individual attention to ensure you hold the postures correctly and work at your own pace.

    The class typically includes:

    • Classical Iyengar style Hatha Yoga postures

    • Breathing Techniques (Pranayama) to help calm and relax the mind

    • Simple meditation practice to help mental focus and concentration

    • Relaxation

Suzy teaches the Jon Kabat-Zinn Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Programme and then her students are supported within the group to maintain the practice in their everyday life, finding the resources within themselves though learning the exercises to help them mange their emotions and stay calm and centred.

  • Westview Sailing

Hello my name is Duncan Wells and I do a number of things; I am the Principal of Westview Sailing and RYA Training Centre. I also write feature articles for Yachting Monthly, Sailing Today, Practical Boat Owner in the UK and Sail Magazine in the USA. I write books on sailing:

Stress Free Sailing, Stress Free Motor boating, Stress Free Navigation and soon...Stress Free Mooring - Check them out on Amazon!

I have a safety product MOB Lifesavers which allows a man in the water to be rescued back on board. Have a look at www.moblifesavers.com

The course takes 7 Weeks and consists of one evening a week and then a weekend. A lot of students arrive having done no boating at all and this is their first step towards getting the Day Skipper certification- the full day skipper certificate has two parts, the shore based certificate which you do first and in the classroom and then the practical certificate which you do out on the water over 5 days.  We have students who are sailors and students who are motorboaters; the navigation side of things is the same for both, it is only the practical courses which differ.

We have video tutorials of all the navigational disciplines which one can access from the Westview sailing Website. They cost £25.00 for one months access or £55 for three months access. Westview Day Skipper and Yachtmaster shore based students get free access to these videos for the duration of their course. You will also find a number of Yachting Monthly and Sailing Today boat handling and seamanship articles on the Westview website which may be of interest.

    Course costs

    Day Skipper: £425 (7 weeks)

    Yachtmaster: £450 (8 weeks)

(+ £25 if you need dividers and a plotter)

£50 deposit is payable to secure your place
